In the exhibition Not Afraid of Art at the ADKDW Studio, seven artistic positions deal with the themes of power and fear in art. How can art reflect and break up social power structures? In what ways do power and fear manifest themselves in art?

The Ghanaian artist Yussif Musah, born in 1997, studied painting and sculpture in Kumasi, Ghana. As part of the exhibition Not Afraid of Art, he was commissioned by the Academy of the Arts of the World to create a mural for the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum that sheds new light on photographs from various Cologne archives. The exhibition is named after a children's book by Nigerian author Chinua Achebe, who campaigned for decolonisation, justice and freedom.
