With the aim of bringing non-European perspectives into dialogue with the European public, the ADKDW regularly welcomes artists-in-residence from all over the world to Cologne. As part of a scholarship, they are given the opportunity to encounter the regional art and creative scene and find inspiration for their own projects. The artists-in-residence present their work with their own events in the program of the Academy of the Arts of the World.
The ADKDW regularly welcomes artists-in-residence from all over the world to Cologne. Each new residency begins with a convivial evening in the Elektra Bar. Titled Meet the Artists!, we invite artists, cultural professionals and all interested Cologne residents to meet the artists-in-residence, exchange ideas and network or simply enjoy the live music together!
Meet the artists Drew Kahuʻāina Broderick and Sancia Miala Shiba Nash of the grassroots film initiative, kekahi wahi. Formed on January 17th, 2020, kekahi wahi is committed to documenting transformations across the Hawaiian archipelago and sharing intersectional stories of the greater Pacific through time-based media. DJ miala will share an eclectic mix that departs from kekahi wahiʻs sonic influences of Asia-Pacific archipelagoes.
