Not Afraid of Art - under this title, the academy members and international artists are collaborating with the Cologne art scene as part of a three-year project. The goal is to create a space for shared learning and to cultivate an understanding of the social and political potential of art.

The exhibition under the same name in the ADKDW Studio deals with the themes of power and fear and presents artistic positions by Barış Doğrusöz, Kanitha Tith, Anastasia Sosunova, Buket Isgören, and Žiga Sever.

Kanitha Tith is an interdisciplinary artist from Cambodia who works in the fields of sculpture, film, works on paper, performance and installation. In her art, she uses everyday objects, such as steel wire, which she weaves into sculptures by hand in strenuous, meditative, laborious, long processes. This process allows her to work free of goals, to question and to constantly make adjustments. The sculptures are organic, playful, abstract and sometimes figurative. They have loose ends and show that her work is never finished or complete. In this way, the artist frees herself from the narratives of Cambodia often told in art and from expectations of her gender.

The exhibition Not Afraid of Art will be accompanied by supporting events and Artist Talks. The Artist Talks are a series of events in which the artists of the biannually changing exhibition of the Academy of the Arts of the World talk about their work. In the rooms of the ADKDW, we invite you to enter into a relationship with the artists and their work in the context of lectures or moderated discussions.
